The secret is out, we are obsessed with this slice of paradise! It’s also no secret that traveling to Raja Ampat is an expensive and time consuming process!
If you are planning a trip and want to get an idea of how much it will cost, we kept track of everything we spent throughout our entire time in Raja Ampat.
How much money to budget for 8 days in Raja Ampat?

Transportation Costs:
Transportation is going to be the biggest expense. The modes of transport that you will be using are flights, local boats and shared taxis. Fuel is expensive in West Papua therefore moving around is expensive. Due to this fact we stayed just on Kri Island to keep our costs down. The best way to keep costs down is by splitting or sharing trips with other people in your homestay!

Taxi from airport to Swiss Bell Hotel- 100,000
Yellow Truck from Swiss Bell to Saga Supermarket- 10,000 (one way)
Taxi from Swiss Bell to Harbour- 100,000
Harbor Entrance Fee (car fee + person fee)- 5,000 + 2,000
One-way Ferry from Sorong to Waisi (Economy Class)- 260,000
Transfer from Waisi to Kri Island- 500,000

**We believe we got ripped off on the taxi ride from the Swiss Bell hotel to the harbor, we would suggest using a yellow car instead!
Accommodation & Food Costs:
To be honest we did not stay in the most budget friendly homestay, our homestay was a bit on the higher end of the spectrum for homestay’s on Kri Island; however, since most of our time was spent on the beach around our homestay we opted for a bit more comfort.
Typically throughout the island food is included in the price of your accommodation. The homestay will offer you three meals per day, unlimited filtered water, coffee and tea, and sometimes a mid afternoon snack. If you visit the website Stay Raja Ampat, you can find all of the homestay options on the various islands, the prices and what’s included in the price of the accommodation.

Snacks at Saga Supermarket- 64,000
Lunch at KFC in Makkasar Airport- 119,000
Dinner at convent store in Makassar Airport- 50,000
Breakfast at Starbuck at Makassar Airport- 94,000

Activities Costs:
Activities can easily make or break your budget. As we mentioned above, getting anywhere around the archipelago is expensive due to high fuel costs. To keep our costs low we opted to do a few activities and split it with the other 3 people that were staying at our homestay. We also opted to snorkel in and around our house reef instead of paying for multiple snorkeling trips.

Cape Bri Snorkeling Trip-150,000 (300,000 per boat, we split the cost with 2 other people)
Pianemo Full Day Trip- 1,200,000 (6,000,000 per boat, we split with 6 other people)
